JillandKate | Heart of Stone | Album Cover Shoot

I typically reserve all of my blog posts for my wedding work, because first and foremost, I am a wedding photographer. But over the years, being a photographer has opened up some opportunities to photograph some really amazing things. And one of these opportunities came recently that I can’t help but share here on my blog.

If you spend some time with me, it won’t take long to realize my deep love for music. It’s funny, because I’ve never been musical myself. I tried (emphasis on tried) playing the piano and guitar growing up and my excitement for karaoke attests to my delusional belief that I can sing – but that’s the extent of my musical talent. However, what I lack in musical ability myself though, I make up for in my appreciation of that talent in others. That’s why I was so excited when JillandKate asked me to shoot the cover for their new album.

But even more so than my love for music, this shoot was special because Jill and Kate have become some of my closest friends. We’ve shared a lot of amazing experiences together over the past few years and it’s been so cool to watch their careers in the music world flourish. Their music careers involve two main streams. On one hand, they tour as backup singers for Kelly Clarkson and are gearing up for their nation-wide summer tour with her. On the other, they write and produce amazing pop/folk music of their own as JillandKate.

In being close with the two of them, I have witnessed first hand how awesome and loyal their JillandKate fans are. Recently, this support was seen in how quickly they raised funds for a new album through a Kickstarter campaign. After raising the needed funds, they have been working hard to write, record, and produce this album over the last 6 months. In the process of working with them on the artwork, I have gotten a chance to sample some of the tracks from this album… and let me tell you, it is unreal how good it is. I can’t wait for the rest of their fans to experience it!
